The manufacturing and design of sealing components for the food and
pharmaceutical industries has been the focus of GMORS since 1981. Our range
of o-rings and seals match every type of application and equipment used in
food processing and drug manufacturing.
GMORS provides advanced sealing components to major equipment
manufacturers in the processing of food, life sciences and biochemical
industries. Meeting the challenge set by the industries for greater hygiene
standards for elastomeric sealing parts, GMORS offers o-rings and seals of
superior performance formulated to withstand corrosive chemical media
encountered during sterilization processes. Complying to standards set by
USP Class VI, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, 3A-Sanitary Standards and ADI (Animal
Derived Ingredients) Stands, our elastomeric seals and parts resist the
deleterious effects of various cleaning chemicals and active ingredients.
Seal Degradation and Food Contamination
Sterilization and cleaning of food processing equipment are done at high
temperatures, and elastomeric seals are constantly exposed to extreme
service conditions. Contamination of food during processing happens when
damaged elastomeric sealing parts breaks off into fragments. Microbial
growth thrive under conditions of surface deterioration of the o-rings and
seals, and advance the degradation of the hygienic environment.
Performance Requirements for O-rings and Seals used in Food Manufacturing
1. Resistance to various chemicals found in food products.
2. Resistance to aggressive cleaning chemicals encountered in clean-in-place
processes.
3. Surface of sealing components should not hinder effective sterilization
and cleaning.
4. Resistance to wear and abrasion.
5. Non-toxicity of seal material.
Areas of Application
Centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, fittings and pipes, diaphragm and piston
pumps, separators, homogenizers, decanters.
Compliance Standards
Full certification of products in accordance with international standards
for compatibility for use in food and drug manufacturing equipment.
FDA 21 CFR 177.2600: This regulation of the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) stipulates the type and quantitative limits of
ingredients found in elastomeric compounds that are used in the making of
molded products for repeated use for all phases during food processing. This
includes the preparing of food, its packaging as well as transportation.
3A-Sanitary Standards: The design of food and beverage equipment and
that of the pharmaceutical industries based its criteria for standards of
hygiene on 3A-Sanitary Standards. GMORS manufactures o-rings and seals in
accordance to the standards of 3A-Sanitary Standards, which also conform to
the guidelines of FDA CFR21.177.2600. Diseases causing agents from ADI
(Animal Derived Ingredients) are excluded from getting into the food
processing chain because our sealing products are ADI-free.
USP Class VI: The biocompatibility of products and equipment used in
the food and drug, and health care industries must conform with USP Class VI
in their manufacture. The strictest testing procedures apply in USP Class
VI, which is the highest level within six classes under the USP protocols.
An extensive range of elastomeric materials is offered by GMORS that comply
with the above mentioned standards. The range of materials offered include
FKM, EPDM, Silicone, FFKM, HNBR, NBR and more. Let us know your service
requirements and our technical specialists will assist you with the right
choice of material, matching your temperature and chemical conditions.
